We bought this Frigidaire 5.0 Cu. ft. Chest Freezer, White , EFRF5003, from Walmart, on sale for about $156.00 …. We read reviews, some seemed not so good at all. Some were good. Delivery service for some appeared to be a nightmare. Not for others. The one thing that made us not purchase this sooner was their “return” policy of not being able to take it to a Walmart store or have them get it. Who in the world will have all the original packaging, styrofoam bits, etc and “UNINSTALLED”? That’s ridiculous when it works fine for a day or two and no longer works before a 30 day warranty expires. Aside from that return policy, we took a chance. It was delivered promptly. The delivery people followed instructions and left it at area we asked them too. We carefully opened the thick box and it was packed inside a lot of protection inside the box. Not one dent or scratch. No cosmetic damage….We waited 24 hours to plug it in like advised. It began working. We don’t know if it will actually be useful should it be needed but we purchased a 2 year warranty for $16…..this freezer is lightweight to move around. It has really nice LIGHTS at the outside bottom so you can always tell if the freezer is running. No guess work. The dial settings seem pretty accurate. It goes up to 7 for the coldest. A home usually will only need setting 4, per the included manual. We turned it to 4 and a half but decided to put it back to exactly 4. It has a really nice drain plug inside at the bottom and an additional drain cover plug on the outside of the unit at the bottom….There is a nice basket at the top for smaller items…a built in shelf inside the freezer for different items and the main storage area. This is so you do not have to pile everything on top of each other. Who wants to dig around getting frost bite looking for something at the very bottom? This interior freezer design helps to not have that issue. We also like it because it’s not a huge freezer needing more electricity. We are not an army of people, for the most part. We were lucky because everything was flawless with this purchase. The price was nice, the product seems good, it arrived without any damage. We’ve only had it in use for a few days. Walmart reviews do not allow an additional update option on reviews. Once is it. That does not help consumers if a product is known for breaking a month or week after the review. The other option is to not bother writing reviews or just wait a month or two or three before writing a review, if one even bothers to remember at that point. If you are on the fence about this like we were for about a month, if you can afford it, I would say go for it. If you do not have a lot of delivery problems, it could be worth it. If you can have it sent to your local Walmart and open it, inspect it at the store, maybe that’s an option for some. No regrets.
