Hi! I feel blessed to give a very positive review of this freezer! I got the 10 cubic ft. to store a whole cow, or at least most of it. After reading other reviews I had concerns of it arriving damaged. Fortunately, it arrived undamaged! It was delivered on it’s side, which was disappointing, but we followed the instructions of standing it upright for 24 hours before use, then we plugged it in, and everything went swimmingly. It also took 3 1/2 weeks for delivery, probably because I ordered it at Christmas, but it was well worth the wait! I just scheduled my beef delivery accordingly. My cow was 300 lbs., and I likely could have stored it all in this freezer. I did, however, choose to store some of it in another small freezer (probably 3 cubic ft.), so that the chest freezer would not be filled to the brim and have troubles with the door closing or make it hard to search for different cuts of meat. I had originally calculated that I would need about 14 cubic feet, so I was expecting to use the other freezer. I do also believe my meat was packaged very efficiently from the processor, which probably allowed for more meat and may explain why I probably could have gotten it all or almost all in if I wanted. Since I did use the small freezer, there was room for more meat in this Frigidaire. I live in a winter environment, but my garage stays a very reasonable temperature that is not comparable to the winter snow and ice just outside, so I am using the setting of 3.5. It appears with a thermostat that the temp is ideal between 0-5 degrees Fahrenheit. This is encouraging that in a warmer environment, I have settings up to 7 to turn it up if it has to work harder. It is very quiet! I really do not hear it, which makes sense with the manual defrost operation. It is a nice size, but not too large. I used the basket to store steaks on the top right side of the freezer, so they are easily accessible. The freezer has been in operation just about 4 mos. I am just starting to notice some frost, but it is minimal compared to the recommended defrost level of 1/4-1/2 inch of frost. The price point on this freezer was amazing! I see right now on the Wal-Mart site it is full price @ $599. I got mine on sale for $298. I did also go ahead and purchase the 3-year extended warranty for $34. I am so glad I purchased this freezer, as the whole beef we purchased was a very clean and natural (essentially organic) local rancher. I know I am feeding my family very healthy meat! I’ve also been able to purchase 25 lbs. of natural wild caught Alaskan salmon, and my good friend who is raising her own lambs wants to sell me her amazing and completely natural lamb meat, and I have room for it! You cannot put a price point on your family’s health, but this freezer is helping me serve my family very healthy and very economically! I would definitely recommend this freezer or purchase another one if I need more freezer space!
