Rajwati Seth, born in Lucknow in 1896 who marries into a Punjabi family of Lahore, that was in banking, the Arya Samaj, offered free herbal healing, and a husband who was to become one of Lahore’s great industrialists with an enormous circle of Hindu and Muslim friends. He believed communal violence would be short-lived and people would regain their shared humanity. That does not happen and she moves at a moment’s notice post -independence to India with her husband and two members of staff (all other family members having left earlier), and another story of her life unfolds. She spends the last years of her life in an Ashram near Dehradun, content and serene, neither affected by her great wealth or her personal griefs. There is much to learn from such a life.
